A few weeks ago, SimSational was given the chance to visit the EA UK office in Chertsey, England, to check out the latest instalment to the SimCity series, SimCity Societies!
No matter how much negativity has been surrounding this latest for not being "SimCity", the producers at EA are standing their ground, and for good reason! Although it is clear this isn’t the sequel to 2003’s SimCity 4 players were anticipating, the new direction EA are taking this game in is, for me, very exciting.The game is scheduled for release December 2007, so keep a look out for it as I highly recommend it!
EA have updated the official SimCity website, SimCity.ea.com with a new splash screen which shows the new logo for the latest game in the series, SimCity Societies.Haven't heard of SimCity Societies? It's the newest game in the SimCity line, and as the name suggests, is centred around the societies living within your city and takes the series in a brand new direction, hence this game does not carry the name 'SimCity 5' as you would expect.

As you may or may not know, EA last November announced that SimCity 5 was being developed ready for some time during 2008.EA is now seeking a "SimCity Product Manager", i.e. marketing for the upcoming SimCity 5 game. Duties covered by this position include promotions and product launch planning. We may also see some sneek peeks some time in the not-so-distant future.
Besides this, nothing else is known of the upcoming sequel. Check back with us for any more updates on this exciting development!
